Cost Element Group is an organizational unit storing a group of cost elements. Any number of cost element groups can be defined as part of master data maintenance for valuation, planning and allocation purposes in Cost Element Accounting or Cost Center Accounting.

Cost element groups can arrange in further groups or in creating a cost element hierarchy. Cost element group can be used for reporting purposes or for processing multiple cost elements in a single transaction. The cost elements with similar characteristics are put together in cost element groups.

Define Cost Element Group -

Below process is to create Cost Element Group TCCEGRP (Test Cost Element Group).

Step-1: Enter the transaction code KAH1 in the SAP command field and click Enter to continue.

Expand Accounting → Controlling → Cost Center Accounting → Master Data → Cost Element Group → KAH1 - Create . Double Click on it to open.

Step-2: - In the next screen, Enter the Controlling Area and click on Right Mark to proceed.

Step-3: - In the next screen, Enter the Cost Element Group name and press Enter to proceed.

Step-4: - In the next screen, Enter the Cost Element Group Description and press Enter.

Step-5: - Now we will add Primary Cost Element Group at lower level to the TCCEGRP. Click on Lower Level button to add it at lower level.

Step-6: - Enter the low level Cost Element Group, Description.

Step-7: - Repeat Step-5 to Step-6 to add as many as required low level Cost Element Groups.

Step-8: - Now we will add Cost Element Group as a sub element group to lower level to the TCCEPRIM. Click on Lower Level button to add it at lower level.

Step-9: - Enter the low level Cost Element Group, Description.

Repeat Step-8 to Step-9 to add other element groups at the Same Level.

Step-10: - Next Step, we will add the cost elements to the Group TCCGPCEG1. Select TCCGPCEG1 group and click on Cost Element icon to proceed.

Step-11: - Enter the Cost Element details.

Step-12: Click on Save button to save the changes.

Step-13: Status bar displays the below message once the cost Element Group created successfully.
